★ DBT Star College Scheme — Activities & Instruments Procured
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, launched the Star College Scheme to strengthen science education at the undergraduate level across the country. The scheme identifies colleges with demonstrated commitment to quality science teaching and provides financial support to enhance laboratory infrastructure, promote hands-on learning, and foster a research culture among students.
To nurture scientific temper and research aptitude in undergraduate students by upgrading laboratory facilities, enabling skill-based learning, and linking classrooms to cutting-edge science.
Colleges are selected on merit through a rigorous evaluation of their academic performance, infrastructure, faculty expertise, and innovation in science pedagogy — making the Star status a mark of excellence.
Grants are channelled into procurement of modern scientific instruments, organisation of expert lectures, workshops, field visits, outreach programs, and hands-on training for students and laboratory staff.
